Filtering your drinking water is an absolute must if you want to optimize your health. The drinking water in America is loaded with harmful chemicals that over time can lead to a number of health problems. One of the most common chemicals is chlorine, which has been added to kill bacteria, the problem with that is that it also kills the good bacteria in your gut. A depleted gut microbiome is something that plagues most Americans, the over use of antibiotics, glyphosate, and other toxins has left our good bacteria seriously lacking, this can lead to bacterial and fungal infections and weakens your entire immune system as those bacteria play a key role in immunity. Chlorine also removes the oils from your skin drying it out, causing things like eczema and dandruff. Thats just one chemical, there are plenty more found in most American drinking water, like arsenic and glyphosate which are both poisons, or neurotoxins like aluminum and fluoride. It may seem like a good solution would be to drink bottled water, however plastic leach off into the water and into your body, where harmful estrogen mimicking chemicals are riding along. This is disrupting hormonal balance in both men and women, for this reason I would say filtered tap water is preferable to bottled water.
Thankfully there are great companies like EWG out there who have a tap water database where you can enter your area code and find out what the city water test results are in your area, then use their filter recommendations based on the contaminants they list and get the filter you need to give clean water to you and your loved ones. This should be used for cooking and bathing as well as drinking, because your skin is the biggest organ you have, and it is taking in and expelling all kinds of toxins all the time.
Below I linked the results for the Fairbanks, Alaska area, if your located somewhere else go back a page and type your area code and get the results. Well water would need to be independently tested. In my opinion this should be one of the top priorities for anyone wanting to improve their health.
